Corrections Division

Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Jail Administrator (Captain) is appointed by the Sheriff. Corrections is staffed by a captain, one lieutenant, four sergeants, correction officers, deputies, three nurses, three mental health workers, two cooks and one jail chaplain. The Captain oversees the day to day operations of the jail/corrections.

The Corrections facility is a full-service facility that provides:

• clothing
• food
• medical needs
• mental health needs
• transportation to and from doctor appointments
• transportation to and from court hearings
• serve warrants
• serve court papers including warrants and court papers to inmates.

The facility has one sergeant and six correction officers on duty at any given time. The nurses distribute medication to the inmates and take care of all their medical needs. The mental health workers see inmates and teach classes. The jail chaplain visits inmates on a regular basis, and hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. The cooks prepare three meals a day for all the inmates with the help of inmate workers.
